So you have found out you have a Bible Book Review due, now what are you supposed to do? Doing Bible Book Reviews can be rewarding if you learn from what you find. As far as them being hard, that's a myth.
You may view an example below, but let me explain them first.
Step 1.
You will need to know some background information about the book. Probably the two hardest parts of this section of the assignment are finding what the key theme is and when it was written. In the Old Testament it can be hard to pinpoint when exactly something was written. I would suggest you find at least two or three different sources that give an aproximate date. Find the middle ground and use the median of the two or three sources. As for the key theme, I would suggest you find a copy of Halley's Bible Handbook, or a book similar to it, because they list each book of the bible and give the key theme. Obviously not everyone will agree on what the key theme is, but at least you will have the opportunity to learn what most scholors see as the main theme.
Step 2.
You need to read a chapter from the book being covered. So if we are doing our Bible Book Review on Genesis you would pick a chapter to read. You get choose which chapter to read, it isn't assigned. Once you have read it you will need to write a description of what the chapter is about, or how it spoke to you. This needs to be at least 50 words long and it needs to BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS. I don't want you copying a textbook, or study bible, I want you to write what you found while reading the chapter.
Step 3.
The layout must be like the example below so please put the information in the correct place.
These are due every Thursday (Or when assigned) and do not have to be typed (Later they will need to be typed for the Bible Book Review Folder).
EXAMPLE
Bible Book Review
Genesis
Your Name
Author: Moses
Key Theme: God's sovereignty in the Creation of the World.
Date Written: 1000 B.C.
Cateogry: Pentateuch (The books of Law)
I read chapter 1:
In Genesis chapter 1 God creates the world. It starts with the first day of creation where God creates light to the sixth day of creation where God creates man. Each day in the first chapter God creates something new. I especially like the part where God says that he looked on creation and that it was “good”.
(This section needs to be 50 Words, or more)
